Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1340m).

“Tour & Trek Nepal” representative will receive our guests as upon their arrival on Tribhuvan International Airport here in Kathmandu. Afterwards, we will drop off at hotel where you can take a shower, get fresh and take a rest. Later on in the evening, we will have a welcome dinner hosted by Tour & Trek Nepal which will introduce us to Nepalese cuisine with typical Nepali cultural programs around.
 

Our main tour program starts from today. We fly for Lukla (9,186ft),. The 40-minutes flight is the world’s most beautiful air route with amazing view of hills, mountains, dense forest and valleys. It provides an adventurous moment as the Tenzing/Hillary airport is a steep airstrip that is hanging off the side of a high mountain peaks. We meet the rest of our trekking staff in Lukla and begin trekking to Phakding. After one hour’s gradual descent walk, we reach Cheplung village from where we have a glimpse of Mt. Khumbila (18900 ft.), a sacred mountain which has never been climbed. From Cheplung, we then gradually descend until we reach Phakding, on the way we can have spectacular scenes around and spend the night at Phakding.

We start our trek after breakfast. Our trekking trail continues alongside the Dudh Koshi river. Trek is pleasant and wonderful with short uphill and downhill’s crossing over the Dudhkosh River and other suspension bridges several times. During the trek, we pass by several villages, gumbas and monasteries. As we enter the Sagarnatha National Park our trekking permits will be checked at Monjo. A descend and a gradual walk brings us to Jorsale, the last village until Namche Bazaar. The walk is enjoyable through the river bed and we reach Hillary Suspension Bridge. Many magnificient mountains like Kwangde Peak, its sister peaks, Kusum Kangaru, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other fabulous mountains are viewed closer as we climb uphill to the Namche Bazar. It’s the main gateway to the khumbu region. It’s our first scheduled 'acclimatization' day for this trek. We try to explore the Namche Bazaar and its surroundings. Today we hike to Khumjun village hike or Thame or visiting Khunde or Carry out relaxed exploration of Namche Bazaar itself. It’s the tourist hub for the Everest region and has the government offices. We chill around Namche Bazaar and spend the night here.

Trek starts in the morning after breakfast. The trek today is about 5-6 hours. With gradual ups and downs we reach the Kyangjuma Village from where we can enjoy outstanding views of Thamserku, Katenga, and Ama Dablam Mountain. As we precede further passing Mong La, our journey gets even more fantastic and overwhelming with the glance of Mt. Khumbila. From the top of Mong La we admire the grandstand views of surrounding snow-capped mountains and valleys during our lunch. It becomes more pleasant to pass through the Rhododendron forest, some waterfalls and bridges. Seeing the wild and beautiful vegetation’s, spotting wild lives like pheasants, mountain goats, and the elusive musk deer is not unusual until we reach Dole. Overnight: at Dole.

Trek starts on usual time after breakfast. We climb steady up via Lhabarma (4220m) to Luza at (4360m). We face steep trail in most of the places. As we pass through thorny bushes up to Lhabarma,we get a scenic views of Cho Oyu, Kantega, and Thamserku mountains. We proceed further from Luza village and walk above the Dudh Koshi River. On our way we pass by small villages and sandy trails until we reach Machhermo. The Himalayan Rescue Hospital can be visited here for a lecture regarding the altitude sickness, its precaution, and primary treatment. Overnight: in Machherma.

If we were unable to make it to Gokyo Ri previous day then we make it today. Getting upto Gokyo RI (Gokyo Peak) is definitely a strenuous as it it steepy up. The scene of Gokyo village on the edge of third lake overlooked by Cholatse and the broad Nogzumpa Glacier are mind Blowing. It feels like we are surrounded by panoramic mountains like Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku, K 43, Kangtega, Taboche, Cholatse, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, the Everest, Changtse, and Pumori. Sight of sunrays kissing the Everest that towers over all surrounding peaks is unlike from Kala Patthar (from Kala Patthar, Nuptse seems taller). Gokyo RI trek remains for the life time memories. We trek down to Gokyo. Likewise, trailing across the second Lakes and the Nogzumpa Glacier our trek continues until we reach Thangnak (4780m). Overnight: Thangnak.

Today our trek will be quiet tough. The Cho La pass is not itself difficult, but it is steep and involves a glacier traverse on the eastern side. We need to be careful as the trail is vertical and the rocks glazed by ice may lead some trouble by making the trail slippery. The trail from Phedi climbs through a ravine and a rocky trail. While trekking through the side of a frozen lake, we reach at the top of the pass decorated with prayer flags. The pyramidal Ama Dablam presides over a range of mountains on the south even as Cholatse soars to the west and Lobuche East and Baruntse rises sharply to our right. We need to pass through some crevasses before we reach Dzongla Village. The village provides great views of Cholatse, Ama Dablam, Lobuche Mountains along with the Pheriche Village far below.

This will be a very short trek so we have a lot time to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. We climb down from Dzongla and walk through a grassy trail while enjoying the view of Lobuche Peak. The trail curves through the wide river bed before reaching Lobuche. We can spend the rest of day taking a rest which will help us prepare for the next day’s long trek. Overnight in Lobuche.

Today’s trail to Gorak Shep goes fyrther through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. Ahead on the trail we witness the crest of north ridge of Everest along with Mt. Pumori, Mahalangur, Lingtern, Khumbutse, Nuptse and others. We catch our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori as we climb steeply up to the top of Changri Glacier.After a brief lunch and rest, we take the trail to Everest Base Camp through the vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing straight ahead, we come across the Indian army mountaineers' memorials.The path from here can be misleading; hence, it is important that we follow our lead Sherpa diligently. The walk is strenuous due to thin air in the high altitude. We pass through rocky dunes, moraine and streams before reaching the Everest Base Camp. Upon reaching the Everest Base Camp, we see tents of mountaineers that stand out in bright colors against the monotony of gray surrounding. However, the sunset view from Kala Patthar is more admirable than the sunrise view, so it is recommended that we visit Kala Patthar today during sunset. As the setting sun's rays strike the snow-capped mountains, the resulting scenery is incredible. Therefore, for those trekkers who wish to continue to Kala Patthar today instead of the next day please inform your guide and he/she will coordinate accordingly. We get back to Gorak Shep for a good night's rest. Overnight: in Gorak Shep.

We take an early move from Gorak Shep after our breakfast. Temperature gets cold (-10 to -14 C). Nevertheless there is always the potential for chilly winds which are quite common. Well known peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to reveal itself. But, it is upon reaching Kala Patthar that we get to see 360 degree up-close and formidable views of Mt. Everest. We take pictures, enjoy the magnificent mountain panorama, and then return back to Lobuche and then down to Pheriche. Overnight: in Pheriche.

We are on our 14th day of your arrival in Nepal. So the Himalayan roads force us often to see the same beauty of nature twice.We trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the prayer-flag festooned bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, our trail follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through pine forests. In the forest, we may come across colorful pheasants and mountain goats. The path eventually reaches Sansa from where we can enjoy views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Nuptse mountains. We also pass winding trails then through a forest before reaching Namche Bazaar. Overnight: in Namche Bazaar.

The trail descends steeply downward so we need to look after properly. After crossing the suspension bridges over the fast flowing Dudh Koshi and its tributaries the trail becomes more level and natural.Although we are travelling the same route down, we feel completely different views. We snap a mixture of open plains, rhododendron and pine forests, and in the distance snow covered peaks. We walk through the Sherpa villages' noticing impressive faith in Buddhism and culture of prayer stones and prayers flag while we walk through the villages. Finally, after hours of fantastic trek we arrive Lukla. Overnight: in Lukla.

Today we are back to Kathmandu after about an hour of mountain flights. We get into the hotel, get fresh and take a rest for some time. We can do sightseeing to some of the places of Kathmandu valley like Shwyambunath Temple (Monky temple) and Pashupatinath Temple. We can even do some souvenir shopping. There will be a farewell dinner organized by Tour And Trek Nepal, in the evening to celebrate the successful completion of our journey. Overnight: in Kathmandu.
